It was the only alternate officially endorsed by Q team.
What some people forget, is that it was not an alternate to 8ch, it was an alternate to /r/TheGreatAwakening.
In essence, the gateway.

So it makes sense that you'd find The Next Place there (as I did), but it wouldn't be there... at least, that's the way I interpret things.
