Not usually a fan of this publication..however there is a very useful piece of information here. I would seem that GS adopted his philosophy from Karl Popper.
To put the focus on GS and the way he thinks, its important to understand his influences Karl Popper was the original planner of Open Societies. Included here is a snippet from the Guardian article as well as the works of Karl Poppers original publishing both 1 and 2.
