RE power: there is nothing wrong with power, imo. We need power for living. Power over another is something else tho. The quest for that is based in part on the false idea of scarcity (that the pie size is fixed). That there's never enough of what we need - love, sex, money, land - to go around.
But there's also a curiosity factor, in that human beings like to have new experiences, and sometimes they seek risky experiences for which they are not ready. Garden of Eden story tells the tale.
When we take a wrong turn, some of us realize PDQ that we're in deep water and turn back. Others keep going but turn back later. A much smaller group continue until they're completely ensnared and/or invested. They're the ones that figure, "if I'm going down, I'm taking the rest of you with me."
Those are the ones we will expose, by the grace of God.
