The internet was engineered to be an insecure anonymous surveillance and interactive mind control platform. We know how to build safe and secure networks but at the cost of the ability to anonymously and deniably distribute child porn and fentanyl, weapons and disinformation.
It doesn't have to be that way, but it is that way. Because at key points the intelligence agencies exerted pressure to insure that technical decision favoring inherent irremediable security problem were "independently" made.
