Sometimes we need a Leftist leader for a few years who knows how to throw a good party; we fuck and repopulate, have a good time, put ideas into creation. Other times we might need a Righty to hunker-down and be conservative for upcoming disadvantageous forecasts. Ride the waves politically.

3rd option is that you can just literally be a Republic and find a leader who is a giga-mind that is capable of doing All The Things on the fly like a proper Capitan of a Badass Ship.
