>>11619Dr. Stephen GundryUsed to be a conventional heart surgeon and researcher w/great credentials but had a "hopeless" patient a coupla decades ago that responded well to dietary changes. Now a proponent of the keto diet, which is controversial. Seems pretty zealous about it, talking about good vs bad foods for people - when i would guess the truth is more nuanced than that, because of individual differences. To say the same diet is good for everyone seems like a stretch to me - but has been done by many people (all promoting different diet plans, kek).
Gundry has a flashy presence - very promotional website. Offices in Palm Spring and Santa Barbara. Catering to "the upper crust"? Good diet is one thing but there's a subset of people who are 'precious' about their diet. Can be a fetish with upper/upper middle class people who like 4-day health retreats at thousands of dollars a pop.
I'll bet this is why Campbell - a conventional and Britishy MD - does not like the guy. Gundry's the perfect example of a "tasteless American" - he could be right but the promo vibe will turn a lot of people off.
So is Gundry on the up and up? hmmm....
