Secretary of State Blinken Holds News Conference in Baghdad
Secretary of State Blinken spoke briefly with reporters following meetings with officials in Baghdad, Iraq, amid the war between Israel and Hamas. He spoke about the threats against U.S. personnel in Iraq from Iran-aligned militias, saying they are “totally unacceptable and we will take every necessary step to protect our people.” He also spoke about the Israel-Hamas war, saying “we’re working very hard to make sure that the conflict in Gaza does not escalate, does not spread to other places - whether it’s here, whether it’s elsewhere in the region.”
