Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow has proposed an historic 10.5% increase on property taxes in Toronto to fix the city’s deficit. The Mayor also said that if the federal government doesn’t come up with more money for refugee support, she will add another 6% to property taxes on top of that 10.5% hike. Officials say that they've warned the city that immigration will increase costs for residents but politicians didn't listen.
