Top officials with the Homeland Security and Justice Departments as well as the FBI testified on China’s non-traditional espionage efforts against the United States. Topics included concerns over China’s 2025 industrial and technology strategy, criminal cases against Chinese employees accused of espionage and how the departments can share information more effectively. Later, a second panel of China experts gave policy recommendations and analysis of China’s motivations

Bush Campaign Reaction
Former Secretary of State James Baker said Governor Bush and Secretary Cheney were pleased with the U.S. Supreme Court’s 10:00 p.m. decision that there were constitutional problems with the vote recount ordered by the Florida Supreme Court. He also expressed their thanks to all the persons who have worked so hard during the past month. He did not answer questions from the media.
