If you’re old like me, then you probably remember conservative talk radio in the ‘90s and early aughts.
Traditional media such as television and newspapers had been completely conquered by the American left, all but omitting the right from critical national debates.
Millions of non-brainwashed citizens sought informational refuge elsewhere, namely conservative talk radio.
Rush Limbaugh, Neal Boortz, Michael Savage. I could go on and on. These scrappy underdogs managed to wage a successful guerrilla war against the exponentially more powerful mainstream media for years, and as a result ensured conservatism’s survival.
Their success infuriated the left, of course, who tried like hell to compete with, and even conquer, conservatives in the talk radio arena.
But try as they might they simply couldn’t; for whatever reason, they were terrible at it.
And so the right clung to life from the shadowy recesses of a dying medium, landing blows where they could but always retreating to fight another day.
And now that day has come. For it is left who is finally on the defensive.
Instead of fighting from the shadows, the right has managed to commandeer the largest news source in the world. I’m speaking, of course, about this very platform.
After years of being censored and banned on Twitter, and social media in general, conservatives now dominate political discourse across the new media landscape.
The reason is simple: the left takes everything, especially itself, too seriously.
