In 2021, Bauer and Never Trumper Benjamin Ginsberg created the Election Official Legal Defense Network, a project of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, to offer election officials free legal “advice and protection” after the 2020 presidential election. According to their 2022 IRS-990 filing, the Center for Election Innovation and Research granted $200,000 to disgraced "get Trump no matter what it takes" deep state DC Swamp huckster Bill Kristol's organization Defending Democracy Together.
