Reel America: "The United States Marine Band From Then to Now" - 1955. United States Marine Band director Lt. Col. William F. Santelmann provides a musical history of the band by conducting portions of historic songs with ensembles using vintage instruments. The Marine Band performs songs played at the White House as early as 1801, pieces from the earliest inaugural parades, Civil War tunes, and patriotic John Philip Sousa compositions.
