From Saigon to the White House - A Vietnamese Refugee's Story. France Hoang's family fled Vietnam in 1975 at the end of the war - and his journey has taken him from child refugee to West Point to combat zones to the White House. He detailed his success story, which was possible because of President Gerald Ford's "Operation New Life" - a program that allowed more than 130,000 Vietnamese refugees to start new lives in the United States. The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan, hosted this program.
