>>155073Rep. Mike Collins @RepMikeCollins - On this day in history in 1944, the U.S. launched a two-day assault on Japan's naval air power in the Battle of the Philippine Sea, effectively ending Japan’s ability to conduct large-scale carrier operations.
It was the last of five major carrier-versus-carrier battles between American and Japanese forces. The clash involved 24 aircraft carriers and approximately 1,350 carrier-based aircraft, making it the largest carrier battle in history.
The aerial phase became known as the “Great Marianas Turkey Shoot” due to the lopsided losses suffered by Japanese forces. American pilots, backed by superior training, tactics, and advanced anti-aircraft defenses, dominated the skies. A pilot from the USS Lexington famously remarked, “Why, hell, it was just like an old-time turkey shoot down home!” The American victory crippled Japan’s naval air power and cemented U.S. dominance in the Pacific.

That’s what Trump and Republicans are pushing for in their Big Ugly Bill.
We must stop them.
