U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement @ICEgov - Angel Garcia-Plata got arrested by local law enforcement April 19 for assaulting a peace officer and driving while intoxicated.
He’s illegally present in the United States, so we got wind of his arrest and placed a detainer on him. ICE Harlingen picked him up from jail. Now that he’s in our custody, he faces removal proceedings.
Whether we find illegal aliens during our operations or because they’ve been arrested, convicted or just finished serving time in prison — eventually, they must face justice for their illegal presence in the United States.
That IS due process. Our laws matter.
