As a registered lobbyist, her work for Alibaba coincides with heightened scrutiny over the company’s practices under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), which took effect on July 1, 2024.

On May 6, 2025, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton @KenPaxtonTX (who is running against John Cornyn in the Texas GOP Senate primary) notified Alibaba and other CCP-affiliated companies of violations under the TDPSA, which aims to protect Texans’ personal data by granting rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of data processing.
The law also mandates transparency, consent for sensitive data, and robust security measures.
