One black woman completely dismissed the facts presented by another speaker, who cited data showing that illegal immigration costs the U.S. more than it contributes. She brushed it off as “Republican propaganda,” even though the report came from the Biden administration. She went on to advocate for open borders and even suggested we should overthrow the current government.
As an immigrant, I spoke up and said I couldn’t understand how some Americans—especially those in minority communities—wouldn’t want to address the real issues our communities are already facing. Why add more financial strain to public schools, healthcare, and housing systems that are already struggling?
