I voted yes, @VP broke the tie.
Here's where we stand: @SenateGOP will convene at 10am to resume the Rescissions Act of 2025. 'Vote-a-rama' expected to begin around 1:30pm ET. (More tours to come.)
The rescissions package includes 22 rescissions, including cuts to NPR, PBS, and $8.3 billion in ridiculous foreign aid spending that doesn't align with America's interests (Haitian voter ID, Sesame Street in Iraq, electric buses in Rwanda, etc.)
Congress has 45 days to consider this under the Impoundment Control Act. Our deadline is Friday, July 18th.
Today, we will move to an extended vote series (vote-a-rama) on amendments. Once we run the Senate Democrats down (again, like usual) we will proceed to final passage.
House needs to pass this final cuts package, too, before Friday.
While $9 billion is a lot of money to any normal person, it's a drop in the bucket for federal spending. This is step one. We're in touch with the White House on more cuts.
