In a letter sent Wednesday to Sheriff Robert G. Luna, Bondi cited the Trump administration’s commitment to enforcing federal immigration laws, particularly against those who entered the country illegally and committed crimes.
The attorney general warned that failure to comply within 30 days may lead to subpoenas or other legal actions. Bondi also reminded the department of its obligations under existing settlement agreements requiring access to jail records. The request comes amid ongoing tensions between federal and local officials over cooperation in immigration enforcement.
