U.S. Naval Institute @NavalInstitute - In 1942, Jacklyn Lucas used forged documents to enlist in the Marines when he was only 14 years old. He later left his unit and stowed away on a ship heading to Iwo Jima just as he turned 17. During the invasion, he saved the lives of several other Marines by diving on top of two Japanese grenades. He was severely wounded but survived and was awarded the Medal of Honor. He carried about 200 pieces of metal in his body until his death in 2008.
