Chief of Naval Operations Confirmation Hearing
U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Michael Gilday appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee as it held a hearing on his confirmation to become an admiral and chief of naval operations. Vice Admiral Gilday answered questions on a variety of Navy topics, many of them addressing readiness of the fleet and challenges meeting the maintenance needs of an expanding global naval presence. He also talked about emerging challenges from adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran.

Health Officials on National Strategy to Combat Coronavirus Pandemic
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, Centers for Disease Control Director Dr. Robert Redfield, and Assistant Health and Human Services Secretary Admiral Brett Giroir testified before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis. Committee members asked the witnesses about the U.S. response to the pandemic and what the national strategy would be. Witnesses talked about why the U.S. was experiencing more new infections than European and Asian countries and how mitigation measures and testing played a role in the discrepancies between the U.S. and most other developed nations.
