OSINTdefender @sentdefender - Germany is preparing well over 60 military procurement orders for parliamentary approval by the end of the year, as part of an overarching plan to return the Bundeswehr to its Cold War military levels seen during the 1980s, and back into both the largest and strongest conventional army in Europe, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius briefed lawmakers on Monday about the initial stages of the plan, which includes the purchase of 5,000 Boxer Armored Fighting Vehicles, 3,500 Patria XA-300 Armored Personnel Carriers, and at least 20 Eurofighter Typhoons from Airbus. To facilitate both the overall plan and purchases, the German Cabinet on Wednesday approved a long-term draft budget to double defense spending, with an increase by as much as €162 billion ($189 billion) by 2029. In addition, the draft budget for 2026 calls for Germany to purchase and transfer up to €8.5 billion ($9.7 billion) in military aid for Ukraine.
