This past Saturday George County ARES had the pleasure of presenting a Zoom meeting on the Navajo Code Talkers. Herb Goodluck N7HG from Arizona the son of a Code Talker and Special Event Coordinator and Herb’s son Trevor spoke on the history of the Navajo Nation and the conception of WWII Code Talkers.
During the ninety minute meeting Herb discussed how the Navajo Nation was not given citizenship until 1924 and then finally given the right to vote in 1948.
Herb honors the history of the Navajo Nation and the WWII Code Talkers by spearheading the special event Code Talkers for Ham Radio each year, this year event will be August 10, 2025 to August 15, 2025. Time was dedicated to show how the Navajo code was developed and then put into practice during WWII. One GCARES member Bob KO5F, asked if there were any curse words in Navajo ... so we as a group were taught to say “BS”.
