Turns out the Cybertruck’s self-leveling suspension creates a perfect platform for satellite communications. It’s also nice to work sats from inside the truck with the AC running—especially when it’s 100 degrees outside here in Florida.
I set up an M2 LEO-Pack antenna system mounted on a G-5500 rotor on a tripod in the truck bed, controlled by a CSN Technologies S.A.T. Controller for real-time tracking and Doppler shift correction. Inside, I’m using an Icom IC-9700 and a laptop to manage connections and log QSOs in real time via a Starlink internet connection.
The Cybertruck’s onboard power system runs the entire setup including radio, rotor and Starlink without breaking a sweat.
This time was just connecting with fellow amateurs but look forward to working the new crew once they’re on the air.
