The Civil War: Spies & Scouts in the 1865 Appomattox Campaign. Historian Patrick O'Donnell discussed the Jessie Scouts in the 1865 Appomattox Campaign. This Union scouting campaign operated behind Confederate lines to attack critical supplies and kill or capture high value targets. This event was part of a Civil War seminar hosted by Appomattox Court House National Historical Park and Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.
