Laura Powell @LauraPowellEsq - Took my dogs to the vet, and the assistant tried to sell me on paying for tests to check for parasites. I asked whether it would make more sense to just give them a preventative dose of ivermectin. That seemed to trigger her, and she started going off about how it would not be safe, so I dropped the issue.
Then she recommended putting the dogs on heartworm preventative. I asked which brand, and she mentioned Heartgard. When I left, I looked it up and discovered ivermectin is the primary active ingredient.
