Pope Leo XIV @Pontifex - I express my profound closeness to the Palestinian people in Gaza, who continue to live in fear and to survive in unacceptable conditions, forced once again from their own lands. Before Almighty God, who commanded “Thou shalt not kill,” and throughout human history, every person always has an inviolable dignity, to be respected and upheld. I renew my appeal for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a negotiated diplomatic solution, in full respect of international humanitarian law. I invite everyone to join my heartfelt prayer that a dawn of peace and justice may soon arise.

Quantus Insights @QuantusInsights - These forecasts didn’t fail because of volatility. They failed because of their own architecture that embedded bias at the structural level, amplified polling error rather than smoothing it, and rewarded the illusion of precision over actual accuracy.
FiveThirtyEight’s A/B/C grading system created a false hierarchy of accuracy. A-rated pollsters like Siena and Quinnipiac were lauded despite consistent misses, while more accurate firms like @Rasmussen_Poll were removed for “bias” and @trafalgar_group downgraded. Audiences and media alike assumed an A-rated pollster was “accurate,” without understanding its directional bias, house effects, or historical error rate.
This gatekeeping shielded failure and amplified signed error. FiveThirtyEight’s collapse in 2025 reflects its harm, but undoing its legacy will take years.
