1975 Live @50YearsAgo - In Traverse City, Michigan, Stephen Holcomb, Jr., walks into a branch of the National Bank and Trust Company with a 100,000 Reichsmark note from 1923 and presents it for conversion to U.S. dollars.
The note was printed during a time of hyperinflation and is worthless today, but the teller mistakes it for a current West German Deutsche Mark note and presents Holcomb with $39,700 in cash.
The bank quickly realizes its mistake and goes after Holcomb, but he argues that he deserves the money because he never requested the current exchange rate, and the bank simply gave him the money without asking questions.

2000 Live @25YearsAgoLive - At the Goodwood Revival auto race in the UK, driver Nigel Corner is dramatically hurled from his vehicle.
Miraculously, he survives after landing on some tires.
He seems more annoyed about the damage to his car than his several broken bones: “those old Ferraris are bloody strong, but if I’d buckled my seatbelt I’d be dead by now.”

Jesus A. Osete @JesusOseteDOJ
When we asked for data to clean the voter rolls, Maine’s Secretary of State told DOJ to go “jump in the Gulf of Maine.”
I have a better idea: we’ll see you in court.
