Tony Seruga @TonySeruga - 1/2
GPS—Utah Valley University, Charlie Kirk.
I am following the law, I am not unmasking anyone.
With that said, @FBI has GPS data.
The following information is from hundreds of tips, from my longtime FBI and IC contacts. Dozens pointing out the same concerns.
It’s a fact that Charlie Kirk had been receiving an exponentially more death threats (thousands) yet local enforcement went from 60 officers at the Visalia, CA event on Charlie Kirk's 2025 "American Comeback" tour, titled "Advancing the Mission with TKRL", which took place on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Visalia First Assembly (3737 S Akers St), starting at 6:30 p.m. PDT with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., but local support fell to 6 in Utah?
Charlie Kirk’s private security that day was provided by Shaffer Security Group (SSG) or their alumni, founded by twenty year FBI Special Agent Greg Schaffer and Brian Harpole. There were no bodycams.
The hybrid security model—combining a private close-protection detail funded by Turning Point USA (TPUSA) with local law enforcement support for perimeter and crowd control—was selected by TPUSA leadership and Charlie Kirk himself, as part of standard protocols for his high-profile campus events.
This approach allowed TPUSA to self-fund specialized personal security (e.g., via firms like Shaffer Security Group alumni) while leveraging campus or municipal police for broader site oversight, without relying on federal agencies like the U.S. Secret Service. Coordination typically occurred in pre-event meetings between Kirk's lead security staff and local chiefs, such as UVU Police Chief Jeff Long for the September 10, 2025, event.
Kirk's emphasis on accessible, student-focused formats (e.g., outdoor venues) influenced the lighter hybrid setup, prioritizing engagement over fortified perimeters.
TPUSA spokesman Ellen Treanor confirmed post-incident that the model focused private resources on Kirk's "immediate vicinity," with locals handling jurisdiction-specific elements like rooftops— a division that drew criticism after the assassination. Former TPUSA security director Greg Shaffer echoed this, noting his firm's past role emphasized "up-close protection" in hybrid arrangements, not full-site sweeps.
General Team Background: SSG recruits exclusively from U.S. Tier 1 operators (e.g., Delta Force, SEALs) and federal agencies. All members undergo FBI-aligned training in de-escalation and evac protocols. No foreign nationals (e.g., Israeli) are documented, countering online claims linking the team to Mossad or "Zionist" motives—such theories often cite Kirk's recent Israel criticisms but lack solid evidence.
Post-Incident Scrutiny: The FBI and Utah AG's probe includes SSG subcontractors for "obstruction" (e.g., scene cleanup, no chain-of-custody logs, what was taken from the crime scene and WHY?).
UVU's independent review (announced September 22) highlighted hybrid setup failures but cleared the team of direct negligence. Shaffer emphasized in interviews that the outdoor format (Kirk's choice) created "too many lines of sight."
UVU provided six campus police officers—about a quarter of the department's total force—to assist with crowd control and event oversight. Led by UVU Police Chief Jeff Long, this contingent was responsible for broader perimeter monitoring but reportedly did not conduct thorough inspections of nearby rooftops or buildings, from which the shooter accessed his position undetected. They engaged no drones.
