Planned Parenthood Funding
Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. She took questions on the organization's operations and responded to recent criticisms over undercover videos that led some to call for the organization's defunding. Republican committee members criticized the non-profit organization that provides reproductive health and maternal and child health services for its use of government funding. During questioning from Committee Chair Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) about a chart showing the number of Planned Parenthood abortion procedures rising and the amount of cancer screening and prevention services decreasing, which he said was drawn up from a Planned Parenthood corporate report, Ms. Richards denied having ever seen the slide. Her lawyer then pointed out that the source of the slide was anti-abortion group Americans United for Life, which was displayed in the lower right portion of the slide.

Presidential Debates: Trump-Biden First Debate
President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden met at Case Western Reserve University for the first of three scheduled debates prior to the 2020 presidential election. Chris Wallace moderated the debate that was marked by many interruptions. Among other issues, Mr. Wallace's questions concerned the Supreme Court, the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic, the economy, the candidates' records, civil unrest, systemic racism, and health care. President Trump was diagnosed with COVID-19 one day after this debate, and the second debate was eventually canceled.
