Portland Leaders Accused of Helping Far-Left Rioters Against Federal Agents
By lawenforcementtoday.com
PORTLAND, OR – Reports are circulating that elected officials in Portland, Oregon, are not only vocally opposed to President Donald Trump sending troops to the city in light of ongoing riots and protests aimed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, but said Democratic leadership is considering lending “support” to rioters and planning to withhold police resources.
There are two things that most could agree on when it comes to Portland: city leadership has largely been diametrically opposed to the prior and current Trump administration, and the city serves as a hotbed for protests that regularly devolve into chaotic scenes.
Yet, for reasons beyond comprehension, Democratic leadership in Portland has always afforded at least a tacit endorsement to their riotous underbelly, particularly when faced with required means for solutions when said solutions are offered by the Trump administration.
Taking the aforementioned into consideration, it’s hardly a surprise to learn that when President Trump announced intentions to deploy troops to areas where ICE agents have been targeted by rioters, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson condemned the move by the White House, asserting that the “number of necessary troops is zero, in Portland and any other American city.”
Mayor Wilson took his September 27th statement a step further, claiming that Portland harbors zero “lawlessness or violence” with respect to the frequent demonstrations and riots perpetrated by far-left activists and Antifa supporters and militants.
However, while Mayor Wilson’s statement from earlier in September was fairly Portland-boilerplate in terms of vocalized opposition to President Trump, reports allege that Portland officials seek to take matters a step farther than simply vocally opposing whatever the Trump administration is up to.
According to an internal draft letter of a joint statement composed of Mayor Wilson and other nearby elected officials obtained by Post Millennial reporter Katie Daviscourt, Portland officials allegedly intend to offer “legal resources” and “tools” to illegal aliens and ostensible rioters countering the presence of deployed troops to the area as well as obstruct immigration enforcement while withholding local law enforcement resources from federal officers present.
