There, he split his time between overseeing the reactor and engine systems, navigating missions from the control room, and leading divisions of sailors such as electricians and torpedomen. His deployments took him across the Mediterranean and the Bahamas during the Cold War, often tracking Soviet submarines or acting as a target vessel for allied anti-submarine training. Reflecting on his service, Sean says he’s simply grateful he was in a position to serve his country and help protect “a great place worth taking care of.”
