Collin Rugg @CollinRugg - Video: NEW: ESPN pundits are now backtracking on their comments in relation to the deadly car crash involving LSU star Kyren Lacy.
Show host Ryan Clark accused police of "doctoring" and "manipulating" statements to frame Lacy for the crash, live on ESPN.
"Kyren Lacy was innocent ... he was an innocent man," Clark claimed.
Footage released by the Louisiana State Police, however, shows Lacy speeding in the opposing traffic lane, passing multiple cars on the wrong side of the road just seconds before the crash.
LSP, which released footage of the incident, says Lacy caused a woman to veer into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting him.
Lacy was the "primary cause of the chain of events leading to the fatal crash," LSP said.
Lacy sadly later took his own life on April 12, 2025, after being charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle.
ESPN's Ryan Clark and Scott Van Pelt are now apologizing for their statements.
