October Family Day: Creating Comics - Families of all ages are invited to create their own comics and see a display of items from the Library’s extensive comics collections. The activities will be held on the mezzanine level of the Jefferson Building from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. The event is free, but tickets are required for the Jefferson Building. America 250: Navy & Marine Corps 250th Anniversary Opening Ceremony. Navy and Marine Corps leaders joined Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA), Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker (D) at the opening ceremony for the Navy & Marine Corps 250th birthday celebration in Philadelphia. The ceremony also featured a parade of ships along the Delaware River.
