How is it still viable to smuggle coke in this crazy way? Coke! Mephedrone, fentanyl and synthetics are displacing that shit and Coke will become a quaint drug for oldsters. Then the source of drugs to the markets in the USA, Evropa and Australia will shift to labs in India and China. The corruption there makes it basically official project and smuggling in the colossal tidal wave of manufactured goods has got to be just as viable as south american narco adventurers.
Fashion for drugs changes and that can sink entire industries. Just look at the fur trade dying off by the 80's. Lots of development in dark net markets too, Maybe that will upend the business model for traditional narco gangs too.
Dont get me wrong as a supporter of narcotics markets. I hope some new tech or situation comes along that stops trans national narco dealing. Its a scourge for the west. The war on drugs was right on motiviation but not on execution. Remember drug overdose deaths are the largest national loss of life event since the wars in the 1800's.
