>>167520Mario Nawfal @MarioNawfal - HEGSETH'S GAG ORDER: MILITARY SPEAKS TO CONGRESS BY INVITE ONLY
The Pentagon just went on message lockdown.
In 2 memos last week, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and his deputy Steve Feinberg quietly rewired how the military talks to Congress... and it’s not subtle.
No Pentagon official - not even the Joint Chiefs - can speak with lawmakers without clearing it through the department’s legislative affairs office.
Every briefing, call, or email now needs a hall pass.
The memo warns that “unauthorized engagements” could “undermine Department-wide priorities.”
It landed the same day most Pentagon reporters walked out over new restrictions on press access.
Spokesman Sean Parnell described it as “a pragmatic step” toward “accuracy and transparency.”
In short: the truth, but make it pre-approved.
A 2nd memo formed a “working group” to define the new rules... which, in Washington, means the clampdown’s just getting started.
