[reminder]
Several individuals attempted to assassinate President Richard Nixon during his presidency, with the most notable attempts occurring in 1972 and 1974.

Arthur Bremer attempted to assassinate Nixon in 1972, though he was unable to get a clear shot. A month later, Bremer shot Alabama Governor George Wallace five times at a Maryland rally, paralyzing him from the waist down. Bremer was later sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Samuel Byck, a former U.S. Army veteran and failed businessman, attempted to assassinate Nixon on February 22, 1974, by hijacking Delta Air Lines Flight 523 at Baltimore/Washington International Airport. His plan was to crash the aircraft into the White House. Byck shot and killed a police officer and a pilot, wounded another pilot, and was shot by police officer Charles Troyer before fatally shooting himself. The attempt failed, and Byck died at the scene.

Another individual, Andrew Topping, a radical and investment banker, attempted to hire an assassin to kill Nixon in 1972. The Secret Service, posing as an assassin for hire, arrested Topping after he handed over $1,000 for the assassination, which was planned for the following week.
