On 10/16/25, a smuggler driving a red Ford Explorer led @TxDPS
Troopers on a high-speed pursuit along US-57 in Maverick County.
During the traffic stop, the driver — identified as Tetja Spears of Houston — refused to turn off her vehicle after the Trooper detected the odor of marijuana. As the Trooper attempted to disable the ignition, Spears drove off, nearly dragging the Trooper. She then evaded law enforcement and disregarded a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Eagle Pass.
A tire deflation device was successfully deployed, bringing the pursuit to an end. Spears and her passenger, Pettus Pine, were arrested.

- Three illegal immigrants from Ecuador were found inside the vehicle and turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol
