Wojciech Pawelczyk @WojPawelczyk - Whether we like it or not, Halloween has already become a part of Polish tradition to some extent in the process of Westernization and Americanization of our culture. Polish kids will be trick-or-treating next week again. Personally I'm not against Halloween, but it's All Saints' Day that is still one of the most important holidays celebrated in Poland, and I'm good with it.
Btw, some Polish pagans still celebrate Dziady aka Forefathers' Eve which has a rich tradition dating back to old Slavic, pre-Christian times. They oppose Halloween. In the past, Dziady was about summoning souls during the village congregation, taking place in the abandoned chapel at the cemetery. The ritual was presided over by the Guślarz who preached ritual formulas and evoked the souls of the dead in purgatory.
