WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agent discharged their firearm Thursday afternoon during a vehicle pursuit in Northeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
On Thursday, November 13, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., MPD officers and federal partners working under the DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force initiated a traffic stop after observing a traffic violation at Pennsylvania Avenue and Minnesota Avenue SE.
The driver fled the stop, prompting a pursuit by task force members.
A short time later, an HSI agent involved in the pursuit discharged their firearm in the 3400 block of Benning Road NE. MPD confirms no one was struck or injured.
The suspect was later taken into custody without further incident. MPD emphasized that no MPD members fired their weapons.
MPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau – Force Investigations Team responded to the scene, as they investigate all law-enforcement-involved shootings in the District. Once their investigation is complete, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C. will conduct an independent review of the findings.
