Dr. Tamitha Skov @TamithaSkov - To address the big question about the November G4+ or G5- storm, here is a little graphic I put together. It clearly shows why indices like Kp and Hp30, Hp60 are better for space weather climatology than they are for space weather. Depending upon how often you average, and WHEN you average the magnetometer data, you may or may not capture the peak of a storm. In this case, this is a G5- that fell through the cracks, by a technicality of the measurement itself! Poor thing. To me, it will always belong in the exceptional class of "baby" G5s, just beneath the Gannon storm back in May 2024.
