American History TV: Nazi Execution of Canadian POWs and Saipan Suicides
Historians James Holland and Richard Frank discussed two grim events that took place in June and July of 1944; a Hitler Youth division's execution of Canadian POW's at an 11th century Abbey in Normandy, France, and the mass suicide of Japanese civilians who jumped off cliffs to avoid capture by U.S. forces during the Battle of Saipan. This event was part of the National World War II Museum's annual conference.
