U.S. Senate: Senate Session, Part 2
Senators Coons (D-DE), Booker (D-NJ) and Flake (R-AZ) tried to bring up a bipartisan bill to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller, but Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) objected. Earlier in the month, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) also blocked the bill when Senator Flake tried to bring the measure up for a vote. Members also voted 51-50 to limit debate on Stephen Farr's nomination to be a U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Vice President Pence broke the tie after Senator Flake was the only one of 51 Republican senators to vote against Mr. Farr. Senators vote 63-37 on a motion to discharge a joint resolution from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee directing the removal of U.S. Armed Forces from hostilities in Yemen not been authorized by Congress.

Tribute Service for Rosalynn Carter
"My mother, Rosalynn Carter, was the most beautiful woman I've ever met, and pretty to look at too," said James "Chip" Carter, son of the former first lady and President Jimmy Carter, as he closed out his remarks during a tribute ceremony for his mother at the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta. Among those in attendance were President Biden and first lady Jill Biden, former President Clinton, and former first ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Michelle Obama, and Melania Trump. The service also included musical performances by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus, pianist David Osborne, and country music entertainers Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks, who sang John Lennon's "Imagine." Mrs. Carter died on November 19, 2023, at her home in Plains, Georgia. She was 96 years old.
