Subject: Request for Compassion and Clemency for Our Parents, Henry and Imelda
Cuellar
Dear President Trump,
First, we want to thank you for your service to our nation and for the leadership you continue to provide to millions of Americans. We understand that the responsibilities of your office are immense, and we are deeply grateful for the time and compassion you extend to families like ours who are seeking mercy and understanding.
We write to you simply as two daughters — two women who love their parents more than words can express and who have spent countless nights praying for strength, hope, and understanding. This has been the hardest chapter of our lives. There have been sleepless nights, anxious mornings, and quiet moments when the weight of it all feels overwhelming. We've watched our parents, Henry and Imelda Cuellar - two of the kindest, most selfless people we know, who have given everything to others - endure something so heavy and public, carrying a burden that no good-hearted person should ever have to bear.
Through it all, our parents have remained faithful and resilient. Our father has spent his life serving others — helping veterans find resources, securing funding for small businesses, strengthening support for Border Patrol and law enforcement, and backing the U.S. oil and gas industry to promote American energy independence and protect American jobs. Our mother has always been the heart and soul of our family — caring for others before herself, volunteering at church, and reminding us to pray even when we feel overwhelmed. We have seen her not only care for us but also for her elderly parents, now deceased, who lived to be 98 and 101 years old. Every day, she made sure they were comfortable and surrounded by love. She was their caretaker with patience and compassion until their final days, never once asking for anything in return. The same gentleness and devotion she gave them, she has always given to everyone around her. Even now, during this challenging period, she continues to show strength through kindness and grace — offering comfort when she's the one who needs it most. Her steady faith has kept us all together.
