Ethical Skeptic @EthicalSkeptic - In discussing imminent phenomena and systems theory, I distinguish between two categories of leading indicators: Indigo and Tau.
Indigo indicators are associated observations that suggest a process is inflecting, but do not imply imminence. They signal state change or internal reorganization without constraining timing or outcome.
Tau indicators, by contrast, are associated observations that reflect the precipitation of processes into a final climax - conditions in which progression toward an event becomes unavoidable and causally constrained.
At present, we are not at Tau. To date, all observed signals fall within the Indigo category; with one notable exception: the sudden and rapid warming of abyssal oceanic layers (and the coupled climate response).
