>>172255FBI Director Kash Patel @FBIDirectorKash - December 26: Shutting down the Hoover Building.
After more than 20 years of failed attempts, we finalized a plan to permanently close the FBI’s Hoover headquarters and move the workforce into a safe, modern facility. Working directly with President Trump and Congress, we accomplished what no one else could.
When we arrived, taxpayers were about to be on the hook for nearly $5 billion for a new headquarters that wouldn’t open until 2035. We scrapped that plan. Instead, we selected the already-existing Reagan Building, saving billions and allowing the transition to begin immediately with required safety and infrastructure upgrades already underway. Once complete, most of the HQ FBI workforce will move in, and the rest are continuing in our ongoing push to put more manpower in the field, where they will remain.
This decision puts resources where they belong: defending the homeland, crushing violent crime, and protecting national security. It delivers better tools for today’s FBI workforce at a fraction of the cost.
The Hoover Building will be shut down permanently.

This year the @FBI has put significant time and resources into developing our counter drone capabilities and growing coordination with law enforcement on counter UAS tech across the country.
Unmanned aircrafts are increasingly exploited by criminals, terrorists, and hostile foreign actors - making the counter UAS program a critical area for the FBI to modernize and adapt to stay ahead of the threat.
President @realdonaldtrump signed an executive order June 6 directing recommendations for the creation of a National Counter-UAS Training Center. Accordingly the FBI started and now operates the National Counter-UAS Training Center (NCUTC) out of our Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. We got up and running quickly and had our first class this year.
FBI’s NCUTC prepares officers and employees of state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement and correctional agencies to safely detect, identify, track, and (when legally authorized) mitigate unlawful drone activity - all consistent with the 2026 NDAA passed by Congress this year.
Our training center builds disciplined, safety-focused, coordinated counter-drone capability and supports preparedness for major national and international events like the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the 2028 Summer Olympics hosted in the U.S.
This is an investment that will pay huge dividends for America’s national security in the years to come.
