FischerKing @FischerKing64 - This is the end of the first quarter of the 21st century. It started with the 9/11 attacks. Spilled into the ‘war on terror,’ then the 2008 financial crisis. Then we had Obama and the rise of woke. Now we’re in the Trump age, the effort at undoing the decline of the USA, punctuated with COVID and the senile Biden presidency, which will be regarded as a shameful and retarded interlude.
It’s been a wild 25 years looking back on it. Consistent theme is government failure just about every step of the way. Massive increase in the national debt across all administrations. Terrible foreign policy - with the exception that Trump didn’t do foreign wars mostly. Massive foreign invasion of illegals and legal immigrants that make the country look and feel very different from even 2001, much less 1980.
The positives in this era are all in the private sector. We got the iPhone. Elon built Tesla and SpaceX. Crypto currency emerged. AI is on the upswing. These positives are ok, but do not offset the government failures that have resulted in decline in quality of life despite GDP increases.
It’s good to take stock over 25 years. Because most of us on here will be alive another 25 years. And if things go as they’ve gone since 2000 - it will be very ugly. Sorry to be a doomer - just being honest.
