JB and family @SimmonsBart - My wife and I, aged 69 and 70, own and operate a retail store that serves hundreds of customers on a regular basis. During the recent holiday season, we attended four performances of The Nutcracker at the Majestic Theater and the Eisman Theater, each with audiences numbering in the thousands; we also took in a performance of Frozen at the Nate Theater in Frisco, visited the packed Gaylord Texan resort, caught a performance of Frost at the Cactus Theater, and spent time at Klyde Warren Park enjoying live performances surrounded by hundreds of people nearby. In addition, we hosted several gatherings at our home in December, including family events with our 13 grandchildren. Throughout this period of extensive close contact with large crowds and many individuals, we remained unvaccinated against COVID-19, influenza, RSV, and pneumonia. Neither of us experienced any illness, not even for a single day. By contrast, several of our friends who are fully vaccinated and boosted, and who took additional precautions such as isolating, nonetheless contracted respiratory illnesses. At our ages, we are constantly warned and berated by the medical-industrial complex that our immunities are faltering to the point of being useless and that we must get vaccinated. This personal experience raises serious questions about the prevailing narrative that vaccination is necessary for maintaining health and underscores the critical role that diet, movement, sleep, and sunlight play in supporting robust immunity and overall elder health.
