To increase transparency, our counterintelligence team worked together with our own FBI Office of Public Affairs and @TheJusticeDept to publicize counterintelligence casework in over 50 press releases this year alone. Each release, whether highlighting an arrest, indictment, or sentencing, demonstrated the FBI’s commitment to collaborate with our federal, state, and local partners to bring bad counterintelligence actors to justice, and increase awareness to the American people.
The results speak for themselves:
- 35% increase in Espionage arrests
- 1,800+ gangs and criminal enterprises disrupted - 210% increase
- 40,000+ pages turned over to Congress in just one year - approximately 4x the times the total number turned over under previous leadership, in a fraction of the time
- Four of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted fugitives captured - as many captured in one year as during the previous four years total
