>>173473Skeletor @TheMuppetPastor - Something fascinating about the book of Job:
1. It says Satan afflicted Job, and that God allowed it.
2. It NEVER says that God left Job.
Oh yes, Job suffered horribly, begged God to know why He had allowed him to suffer, questioned God’s reasoning, and the like. But Job never cursed God and died like his wife had asked him to do.
Job never stopped loving God and God never stopped loving him.
Job was a righteous man who did many good deeds and sacrificed for his sins and those of his family. Job ensured the poor received fair treatment and representation in society. He gave food to the hungry. He respected anyone, no matter societal rank.
The Bible tells us that when we draw near to God, He draws near to us, and this was certainly the case with Job. His righteous years of living actually prepared him for the hell of suffering.
And God was with Job, both when he prospered, and when he suffered. God was with Job even when Job felt alone. How else could he have survived? How else could he have kept the faith?
God showed up at the end and He never answered Job’s questions, but, perhaps the most important part of the story was that God had never moved. He was always there, in good times and bad, when Satan attacked and when wealth was abundant. God boasted about His servant, Job, like a proud father.
And perhaps this is the greatest lesson: God will be there for us, too, especially when we can’t see Him. Sometimes the very reason we can get out of bed and survive the next day is because God enabled us.
